  1. Which fraction is equivalent to 2/3?

    Answer: 8/12

    Multiply top and bottom by 4: 2/3 = 8/12.

  2. Write 9/15 in its simplest form.

    Answer: 3/5

    Both 9 and 15 divide by 3: 9 ÷ 3 = 3 and 15 ÷ 3 = 5, giving 3/5.

  3. 1/2 + 1/4 = ?

    Answer: 3/4

    Change 1/2 into 2/4, then 2/4 + 1/4 = 3/4.

  4. 5/6 − 1/3 = ?

    Answer: 3/6

    1/3 is the same as 2/6, so 5/6 − 2/6 = 3/6.

  5. What is 3/5 of 45?

    Answer: 27

    45 ÷ 5 = 9 for one fifth, then 3 × 9 = 27.

  6. Which of these fractions is the largest?

    Answer: 9/12

All four are twelfths, so the largest numerator wins: 9/12.

  7. Write 17/12 as a mixed number.

    Answer: 1 5/12

    12 twelfths make 1 whole, leaving 5 twelfths: 17/12 = 1 5/12.

  8. A class has 32 pupils and 3/8 of them wear glasses. How many pupils wear glasses?

    Answer: 12

    32 ÷ 8 = 4 for one eighth, and 3 × 4 = 12 pupils.

  9. 2/9 + 1/3 = ?

    Answer: 5/9

    1/3 is 3/9, so 2/9 + 3/9 = 5/9.

  10. Ravi read 2/7 of a book on Monday and 3/7 on Tuesday. What fraction of the book is still unread?

    Answer: 2/7

    He read 2/7 + 3/7 = 5/7, so 7/7 − 5/7 = 2/7 is unread.
