  1. A film started at 9.40 a.m. and ended at 11.15 a.m. How long was the film?

    Answer: 1 h 35 min

    From 9.40 a.m. to 11.00 a.m. is 1 h 20 min, then 15 min more, making 1 h 35 min.

  2. Netball training began at 2.25 p.m. and lasted 1 h 35 min. What time did it end?

    Answer: 4.00 p.m.

    1 h 35 min after 2.25 p.m.: an hour takes it to 3.25 p.m., then 35 min more gives 4.00 p.m..

  3. How many minutes are there in 3 hours and 20 minutes?

    Answer: 200

    3 × 60 = 180 minutes, and 180 + 20 = 200 minutes.

  4. 145 minutes is the same as how many hours and minutes?

    Answer: 2 h 25 min

    145 ÷ 60 = 2 with 25 left over, so 145 minutes is 2 h 25 min.

  5. Rina left home at 7.50 a.m. and reached school at 8.35 a.m. How long was her journey?

    Answer: 45 min

  6. How many days are there in the month of June?

    Answer: 30

April, June, September and November each have 30 days.

  7. 1 March falls on a Tuesday. What day of the week is 15 March?

15 March is exactly 14 days after 1 March, and 14 days is 2 whole weeks, so it lands on the same day: Tuesday.

  8. A night bus left at 11.30 p.m. and took 45 min. What time did it arrive?

    Answer: 12.15 a.m.

30 minutes takes it to midnight, then 15 minutes more: 12.15 a.m..

    3 × 24 = 72 hours.
