Answer: 205
1 m = 100 cm, so 2 m = 200 cm, and 200 + 5 = 205 cm.
3 kg 40 g = ? g
Answer: 3040
1 kg = 1000 g, so 3 kg = 3000 g, and 3000 + 40 = 3040 g.
4 ℓ 250 ml = ? ml
Answer: 4250
1 ℓ = 1000 ml, so 4 ℓ = 4000 ml, and 4000 + 250 = 4250 ml.
1250 g is the same as which of these?
Answer: 1 kg 250 g
1250 g is 1000 g and 250 g left over, which is 1 kg 250 g.
A rope is 5 m long. A piece 165 cm long is cut off. What length of rope is left?
Answer: 3 m 35 cm
5 m is 500 cm, and 500 − 165 = 335 cm, which is 3 m 35 cm.
A box of books has a mass of 2 kg 500 g. What is the total mass of 4 such boxes?
Answer: 10 kg
2 kg 500 g is 2500 g. 4 × 2500 = 10000 g, which is 10 kg.
A jug holds 2 ℓ of juice. 750 ml is poured out. How much juice is left in the jug?
Answer: 1 ℓ 250 ml
2 ℓ is 2000 ml, and 2000 − 750 = 1250 ml, which is 1 ℓ 250 ml.
Which of these is the heaviest?
Answer: 1500 g
Put them all in grams: 1050 g, 1005 g, 1500 g and 950 g — so 1500 g is the heaviest.
How many 250 ml cups can be filled from a 2 ℓ bottle?
Answer: 8
2 ℓ is 2000 ml, and 2000 ÷ 250 = 8 cups.
A plank is 3 m 20 cm long and a shelf is 1 m 45 cm long. How much longer is the plank?
Answer: 1 m 75 cm
320 cm − 145 cm = 175 cm, which is 1 m 75 cm.
