Answer: 420
85 + 112 + 96 + 127 = 420 tickets.
A table shows tickets sold: Monday 85, Tuesday 112, Wednesday 96, Thursday 127. What was the average number sold per day?
Answer: 105
420 ÷ 4 = 105 tickets a day.
A survey of 60 pupils shows: football 24, swimming 18, cycling 12, running 6. What fraction chose cycling?
Answer: 1/5
12 out of 60 is 12/60, which simplifies to 1/5.
A survey of 60 pupils shows: football 24, swimming 18, cycling 12, running 6. What percentage chose football?
Answer: 40%
24 out of 60 is 24/60 = 2/5 = 40%.
A price table shows: adult ticket $12, child ticket $7, senior ticket $9. What does a family of 2 adults and 3 children pay?
Answer: $45
2 × $12 = $24 and 3 × $7 = $21, so the family pays $45.
A table shows rainfall in mm: Jan 220, Feb 165, Mar 310, Apr 195. How much more rain fell in March than in February?
Answer: 145 mm
310 − 165 = 145 mm more.

220 + 165 + 310 + 195 = 890, and 890 ÷ 4 = 222.5 mm.

The next train is at 08 40, and from 08 15 to 08 40 is 25 minutes.
A table shows pupils in four classes: 5A 40, 5B 38, 5C ?, 5D 41. There are 158 pupils altogether. How many are in 5C?
Answer: 39
40 + 38 + 41 = 119, and 158 − 119 = 39 pupils in 5C.
A table shows books borrowed: fiction 45, non-fiction 30. What is the ratio of fiction to non-fiction in its simplest form?
Answer: 3 : 2
Both 45 and 30 divide by 15, giving 3 : 2.
